Exactly. I wouldn't mind it as much if we found it out later and they treated it as a happy coincidence. But it IS forced, because like you said, they honestly don't connect. The story makes them slaves to fate, and it DISTURBS me.
*nods* It bothers me when people brush aside Aerith for Zax/Cloud when the threesome is obviously so much better - it's one of my few gripes with the bishounenink FF7verse - or totally ignore Yuna or whatever, but in FF8?
