It's... okay, it's not High Art or anything, the story's pretty thin and there's a lot of things that annoy me about it. But it's fun enough, as a Pokemon game. (I've also been getting such a thrill over the fact that when you select a girl character, the script doesn't change - so the story basically treats her exactly the way it would a boy. Granted, the player character is a silent hero so there's not a lot of depth to it, but it shocked me what a gratifying experience it was to run around as a girl in a game world that's just going HELLO AWESOME ADVENTURER.) Worth another try, at least. (Also, fuck Bidoof. Bidoof sucks in all ways.)
I'm getting ready to fight the Elite Four, though, and it's pretty brutal. There's a sharp level curve, and I hate powerleveling in Pokemon. I really, really do.
