Well, okay. I finished Dream Drop Distance about a week ago and I am still in the desperate rolly feelings stage. This is not unexpected, but the last time it was this severe it was just after KH2 and I treated it with fanfic. But I've gotten fussier about fanfic since KH2 and don't know where to look anymore.

Guys help where do I go for good KH fanfic anymore. I am rolling on the bed with feelings here.

ha ha well that didn't work

3060 words. welp

Actually, though? Even though my try at NaNo was a failure, it was a more productive failure than not trying would have been. In those 3060 words, I finished one story for publishing, started another, and made good progress on a fanfic. And in the process, I think I managed to adjust my attitude about creative endeavors and regain some of my inspiration.

So, I'm okay with this failure. :|b

... Okay, those writeups were boring as hell to write, I can only imagine how boring they were to read.

So I started a comic instead.

POTTERMORE

Yeah, I signed up. Mostly to see where I got sorted. (RAVENCLAW, bitches. Just as I always believed~) Username is PumpkinFelicis12497 if you wanna add me.

Also I have the hippiest wand ever.

Pear
This golden-toned wood produces wands of splendid magical powers, which give of their best in the hands of the warm-hearted, the generous and the wise. Possessors of pear wands are, in my experience, usually popular and well-respected. I do not know of a single instance where a pear wand has been discovered in the possession of a Dark witch or wizard. Pear wands are among the most resilient, and I have often observed that they may still present a remarkable appearance of newness, even after many years of hard use.

Unicorn
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.

Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may 'die' and need replacing.

My Little Pony: Friendship is OH WHAT FRESH HELL IS THIS

A few months ago, I became a brony. (Or a filly. Pegasister? What is the presently accepted catchy term for a female adult MLP fan? Do we have a gender-neutral one?)

My nostalgia for the old G1 ponies I'd played with so much in my girlhood was mounting, and reached a critical mass sometime around the point where I kept hearing about how entertaining the new show was, and I finally broke when I found out that the fandom was prolific, enthusiastic, and wrote interesting things. (This is a fandom where I much prefer gen to anything else - and despite the proliferation of shipping fics, I have no trouble finding really good gen. This is a good feeling.)

So, I watched it. And I liked it! Oh, sure, it was unremittingly For Little Girls. I routinely roll my eyes at the sheer proliferation of pink and hearts in the toyline. The characters are drawn in broad strokes, and after watching an episode I can usually find several things about the story and execution that fell flat for me.

But goodness, it was so charming! And even kind of feminist! And the broad strokes the characters are drawn in are entertaining and likable broad strokes! And the main characters even subvert some annoying stereotypes! The book-loving nerd is a take-charge heroine too, erudite and wordy without falling into "impenetrable Hollywood genius speak" or being insufferably superior. The girly clothes-obsessed diva? A designer, who takes her work very seriously and runs her own boutique. It's not like there weren't ever things that annoyed me, but I came to love the show, and I love it still.

But.

Oh, yes, there's a but.

As tends to happen, this new show I liked so much had some Problems.

ExpandComplaining about shows I like: My Little Pony, Part 1: How I Started )

ExpandComplaining about shows I like: My Little Pony, Part 2: The Problem of Derpy )

... Now, I'm probably not going to stop watching. I am in the quandary of the fan of problematic things - my favorite show did something really gross, yet the stories and characters still resonate with me and I still love the art and it's still really cute and enjoyable, dammit. I like it and I like the friendly corners of fandom I've found and I like what I've gotten out of this show, emotionally.

But I'm not gonna ignore that it has problems, either. And I'm going to start talking more about those problems, because y'know what? Silence is support.

(I'm also going to engage in a little Discontinuity to try and make it less awful in my head. It never really happened, or it didn't actually happen that WAY, or Derpy switched her allergy meds and the new brand threw her for a loop. I don't know. I don't want to erase people with mental disabilities, but if that scene is how this show is going to portray someone with a mental disability, then I don't think they should be trusted with characters who have mental disabilities.)

On that note, anyone know how to send a complaint to Hasbro?

Okay, people. I need you to take this viral, and fast.

We know someone in upstate New York who needs a good custody lawyer ASAP. I'm not at liberty to go into details publicly, but this woman is very afraid that her abusive boyfriend is going to get sole custody of her young child.  She's presently being represented by a public defender who doesn't seem to care about the case, and she has very few resources left at this point. Her next hearing is on Thursday.

If you know a good lawyer in New York State who might be willing to take this case for a low fee or pro bono, or at least offer her advice or support, please let me know. If you don't know anyone, please repost this far and wide. As a mother and an abuse survivor, it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach to contemplate a child being left in the hands of an abuser.

I can be reached at kythryne@gmail.com if you have any leads or want to help.

The internet can work miracles. Let's go.

What the hell are all these feelings?

Inge decided to be difficult right before I left work, and I already had a headache, so I left aggravated and with EVERY SINGLE THING pissing me off. Got to school ready to claw off my own face, or possibly someone else's, or possibly a telephone pole.

Then I saw the nice green lawns and just wanted to roll in them. While still feeling claw-my-face-off too-big-for-my-skin frustrated.

Then I noticed, as I was leaving algebra class, that one of my classmates had a Starbucks cup and the thought crossed my mind briefly of physically assaulting him for his hot chocolate. (It probably wasn't even hot chocolate he was holding. I just saw a brown beverage and went CHOCOLATE!)

Then I wanted to roll in the grass again. Also possibly SCREAM TO THE WORLD to ANNOUNCE MY PRESENCE! CAPSLOCK!!!!

Is this PMS, spring fever, or just a really weird mood? I don't know what my emotions are doing!

I am completely at a loss for what to say.

I've thrown some money in the general direction of disaster relief, verified the safety of my near and dear in affected areas, and now my brain's just kind of backing off to try and process everything.
