AX con report
Still waiting on Schala's new power supply, but if I'm gonna write up a con report, I'd better do it now. XD
We actually got there on pre-reg day, but I'll just skip ahead to the actual con and let pre-reg day pass without comment other than HOLY SHIT, THERE WAS NO LINE FOR BADGES. Srsly, that was like some kind of miracle.
Anyway. Day 1!
I meant to go straight with Vance to the exhibit hall line, but we ended up cosplay-spotting for a little while instead. I met an awesome KH2 group, with a kickass crossplay Setzer and a really sweet Olette who I fangirled with for a while, and who thought my Heartless earring was awesome. :D (HAY THERE OLETTE if you're reading this~) When we finally got to the line, it had grown OUT OF THE CONVENTION CENTER. Uh, whoops. XD

anriko and anrakushi. Funny story - I'd texted Amiko, and she told me to look for Reno, Yazoo, and Elena shortly. About five minutes later, I've got my sketchbook out and I look up and I think "Oh, look - Reno, Yazoo, and Elena" and fail to make the connection for another couple minutes. XD
(also, I'll have to find some way to make the earrings hold better. I lost mine and it got stepped on. DDDD:)
We finally got into the exhibit hall and it was made of awesome. I bought the shirt I promised a friend, finally got my hands on the Zax figure I've been hunting (OMG YAYZ) as well as a chibi AC Cloud and a Sephiroth pocketwatch that later got sold to Amiko, and my usual crop of doujinshi (HEN DA NE IS BAD FOR MY WALLET). Nothing too special on the doujin front this time - I got a Zax/Cloud that turned out to be about half text, Fuga de Jenova because Orie Asato's art owns me, and this... fucking... CRACKED-OUT Cloud/Cloud shameless porn called Egoiste. I have to scan it. It's like a tiny trainwreck.
Got pictures from the FF7 gathering, which was pretty damn cool. :D I'm thrilled to note there were like, seven Zaxes at the con this year, with four of them being at the photoshoot. No longer is he under-cosplayed! Thank you, Crisis Core. (haha, I can't wait until the Angeals start showing up.)

Hung out with Whitney a little that night, but ended up going to bed early; invited her to the hotel room to make plans for the next day, and then DIDN'T SEE HER FOR TWO DAYS. DDDDDDDDDD:

Day 2 was busy!
This was the day I had all my Plans for, largely involving panels and cosplay. I got into Gambino in the morning, which proved to be a lesson in suffering because I had Lexi bind my chest REALLY SUPER TIGHT. Got recognized by a few people, and mostly just wandered around cosplay spotting. My camera battery had died the night before and was apparently unrevivable, so I had to borrow Lexi's camera for the photos I wanted.
And oh, there were many. This was the day of the Kingdom Hearts photoshoot, and of course I couldn't miss THAT. It was pretty chaotic, though, since there were SO MANY they couldn't all fit into the chosen photo area, so a Sora had to borrow a megaphone and tell everyone to move down to the arena, where there was empty space and photos could actually be taken. Everyone was having a lot of fun when we could all actually move around - the Seifer/Roxas shoot just about killed me - and there were some truly awesome costumes (ANTIFORM SORA AND TRON!SORA AND FINAL XEMNAS SQUEE). There also ended up being some HAWT YAOI PORN off to the side involving Roxas, Sora, Riku, and an actual popsicle. XD (And a Namine with her sketchbook.) I also got some SoRiKai paopu-sharing, which made me a happy happy Lyssie. I continue to kick myself for not stalking the Orgy more, though. I missed my chance at proper Xigbar/Demyx pictures. D:
After this, I had to flee to the hotel room to change clothes and go to the pool for a bit. I was kinda dying in my costume. Once I felt human again, I went off to go attend Crispin Freeman's focus panel.
That was AWESOME. I fangirl Crispin SO HARD now. I even got him to do some Setzer lines for me and while I may have missed my chances to get his autograph, I'll live. (I already have one from him, anyway. XD Mostly I wanted an excuse to ask for a hug. Oh, well. Someday.)
Then it was off to the second KH photoshoot where I met Amiko and Neko again (and totally failed to recognize them at first, ha ha I suck), and got a picture of the awesome Xigbar who put panties on his head. XD XEMNAS REPORTS FOR THE WIN. But no Demyx. D:
After that, it was back into Gambino and off to the Gaia panel.
... Until I got in line for the Gaia panel, I'd been considering just not doing Gambino again the next day as I'd planned. I changed my mind quickly. Everyone got a huge kick out of him, and this was very very good for my ego. XD I got a NINJA GLOMP OF DEATH from a Red XIII cosplayer, and got a photo taken with artisticdoodle from Gaia (dressed as the Sniper) shooting me. XD Before the panel, all the NPC cosplayers (me, an Ian, a couple labtechs, a Liam, and the Sniper) went up front and posed a lot. The panelgoers were thrilled, the admins were thrilled, everyone had a lot of fun. :D The panel itself was, as usual, awesome. I got to ask about Gambino's wife and caught a free wristbandwith my face and overall had a great time. ♥
Then I went back to the room and SLEPT.

Day 3 of the con already, wut?
Since it was Monday, I spent a good chunk of the morning after getting into costume tracking down the one working ATM at the con to see if a Paypal payment I'd been waiting on had hit yet. It had! So I withdrew some cash and went to the exhibit hall.
But before that, I had to attend the Gaia social. :D I got a postcard signed for my guild from Jakobo, and a poster signed by all of the admins (and addressed 'to Gambino', whee!) Got a photo taken with them, had to get shot by the Sniper like five times, got to ask L0cke a couple more questions... It was neat. :D
Slipped out of costume again and ran off to the exhibit hall to buy more swag. I bought one of the KH Formation Arts figures, which turned out to be Ansem (SUBMIT!!1!) and was a bitch to put together, but awesome. I also got a FF Trading Arts figure which turned out to be Turk Vincent. Alright, I got the rare secret figure! Score!... Except I already bought him off eBay and he's on my computer monitor at home. I managed to get him traded off, though, for a Zidane. Yay. ♥ I also got a Dark Vash bust from a try-your-luck grab bin, and a Potion elsewhere. :D Potion tastes interesting; very strong, kind of fruity and sweet, but also kind of medicinal. It's not bad, per se, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I got it for the pretty bottle anyway, so. XD
Ended up getting BACK into costume for a commemorative photo booth thing before I went on to get in line for the Masquerade. Nobody I knew from home was attending this time (except Alex and Vance, but they were IN it), but I managed to get a spot in line with the Liam cosplayer and his girlfriend. :D
THE MASQUERADE WAS AWESOME. There was a kickass FF6 skit that started out serious until Setzer walked in going "Hey sorry I'm late just got back from filming KH2! :D", three different Avenue Q-themed skits, one brain-scarring two-person scarily homoerotic Yatta!, and overall no end of quality. And how can we forget the Captain Planet CCS spoof? XD I love the Masquerade.
Afterwards, we went to Denny's to eat, where I was so tired I was laughing at everything, and we watched one guy in the booth next to us balancing his spoon on his nose, which ended up spreading to both of his adjacent booths and mutating into "HAY WHAT ELSE CAN I BALANCE ON MY FACE". XD
(I also saw Whitney on the way out of the con center. This was the first time I'd seen her since the first night. XD)
After Denny's, we finally went and hit the open mic karaoke. I'd been wanting to sing Passion, but the karaoke staff were like "no kingdom hearts plz we've heard it sooo many times" so I picked Only One from Digimon 02 instead. XD YAY SKANKY EVIL.
We got back at like 5. THERE WAS NO SLEEP.

I didn't... really do anything on the last day. Got in line for the open autographs but missed it, then grabbed my suitcase from the hotel room and basically just parked under the con center stairs for the rest of the day. Wandered with Amiko a bit and got some food, but other than that I really didn't do anything. I almost managed to take a nap, but then Kaity called me saying we had to get going. So, we got going.
Pretty satisfying con, overall. :D Highlights, in no particular order:
* Seeingassassins_inc, though very briefly. I want mad cosplay skillz like theirs. D:
* Ansem/Guardian/Riku porn! ... "It was late and we were tired" is all the explanation you need. XD
* The young!Sora/Kairi/Riku cosplayers chilling in the Hilton by the fountain, which looked like a faux Destiny Islands beach.
* The Ember cosplayer from Danny Phantom.
* The Müllenkamp cosplayer! She was really pretty and did the rood exactly right.
* Cosplaying Gambino. It's really good for my ego.
* Meeting Amiko and Neko. :D
* Beating Reverse/Rebirth to the sound of Taiko drums while waiting for the Masquerade results to be announced. XD
* Squeeing over the awesome oldschool crossplay Zax while I was Gambino, and being squeed over in return.
* Meeting the Zax and Aerith from AniZona (whose names I still don't remember D:).
* Meeting a whole bunch of people from AniZona, actually.
* Kaity pointing out the drug parallels when I was offering everyone in the hotel room capfuls of Potion.
* Getting compliments on my Gambino costume from the admins. :D
* THE SCHALA AND JANUS COSPLAYERS. Zeal-siblings LOOOOOOVE.
* The Organization!Roxas carrying around a Bond of Flame keyblade.
* Watching an Ed draw a transmutation circle outside the con center, with a bunch of homunculi around. (Including a wonderful Gluttony. XD)
* Yelling "HEIL ILPALAZZO!" at a passing Ilpalazzo. XD
* Aforementioned HAWT ROXAS/SORA/RIKU PORN.
* Dri signing the Sniper's gun with "I survived the Sniper! O_O" only to have Lanzer accidentally shoot her immediately thereafter. ("I didn't survive Lanzer! D:")
* Reading a volume of Bleach in line, then looking up and suddenly being able to see all the Ichigos.
* Maes Hughes walking around with a loudspeaker to inform everyone of how cute his daughter is.
* The Sora leading around the TINY LITTLE TODDLER SHADOW COSPLAYER by the hand.
In summation: Anime Expo '06 was, indeed, a rockin' party. :D

My sister was there and she was highly amused by the tiny Darth Vader that was wandering around. She still hasn't got those photos developed...
I think her favorite part of the con was the dance ball. "Anime Expo: the only place where one can waltz with Zell, a state alchemist, a Jedi, Jack Sparrow, or Sesshoumaru."
