... What's the name of the breakfast thing where you cut a hole in a slice of bread, put it in a skillet, and crack an egg into the hole? I thought it was "toad-in-the-hole", but apparently that's something completely different involving sausage.

I ask because I've been making a lot of it recently and I'd like to know what it is I'm cooking. XD

Edit: Okay, it seems that Toad in a Hole is a perfectly valid name for this as well as the sausage thing, and there are also a bajillion other names. XD Ultimately, I think I'm going with Egg in a Basket. Thanks, everyone! XD

AUGH.

My mom used to make it for us all the time. I should know this.

I'll ask her in the morning.

Wikipedia says it's both the sausage thing and toast with an egg in it.

My Google-fu produced the following results: Egg in the Window, Hole in One, Bullseye Egg, Egg in a Basket, and simply Egg in a Hole.

Yeah, that's what they call it according to V for Vendetta, too. Like you, I'm not sure I ever called it anything but "that thing where you cut a hole in the toast, then fry an egg in the skillet on the inside of the toast-hole."

I adore it, though. Darnit, now I want to make one...!

:o My family's always called it a "Toad-in-a-Hole", as unappetizing as it's always sounded to me...

*random person response?*

I've always called it an Egg in a Hole.

I eat that all the time. It is called Egg in a Frame!

THIS IS A FACT BECAUSE IT IS TRUE.
