Random Thought for the Day:

When did Kairi get her name? When she came to Destiny Islands, presumably with no memory of Hollow Bastion, did she remember her name as Kairi then, or was she named Kairi by her adoptive DI parents?

Edit: Oh, duh. XD Never mind. It has been pointed out to me that her name was mentioned during that flashback of her in Hollow Bastion. GUESS THAT ANSWERS THAT QUESTION. XDD

It's totally her message board handle. Sora just calls her that because he's used to it.

Not to kill the mystery, but she remembered her name as Kairi from when she came to Destiny Islands; we know because when Sora witnesses the memory of Kairi being spoken to by her grandmother in Hollow Bastion, her grandmother's speech ends with "Kairi". Remember? Sora goes, "Kairi?!" and reaches for the little girl, but he can't...quite...reach her. And then he wakes up in Traverse Town again, with Donald and Goofy.

Anyway, Kairi never said she forgot everything -- she just doesn't remember much about where she came from. ;) I think this is more a case of being very young -- she was only five when she left Hollow Bastion -- than having amnesia...

On the subject of wondering where names come from, I'm still curious where Namine's comes from. We know now, thanks to the trailers for KHII: Final Mix that Nobodies semi-choose their names -- or, more likely, that Xemnas chooses your name for you -- so I'm guessing Namine's name isn't, like, Arixik because at first no one knew whose Nobody she was. She came with Roxas! A two-for-one special. XD

I know about the Nami-Kairu thing, yes. And the because-she's-not-a-number thing is one theory, but where is it stated as fact? ;)

Anyway, why isn't she an Org member? That bugs me now~ Did someone really not want a fourteen or something? XD

Hope you don't mind if I poke my nose in here. ♥ If so, just disregard me. XD
But... hm. I got the feeling that in some way, 'XIII' was the big number of 'completeness' for the fate of the Organization. There's not specific mention of this that I know of, but if the Organization is said to be complete after 13... Perhaps this is something Saix prophisized or something. (I wish there had been mention of Saix making predictions. Would've been awesome to know if there was real divining behind his title.)

I strongly believe that Xemnas took Roxas for the reasons you mentioned. He's The Keyblade Master and of so much importance to the addition of hearts to Kingdom Hearts. He's also way too powerful to put in another faction's hands. I think Xemnas had a clue about Marly... maybe if only because of Axel's suspicions (which resulted in his being put in Castle Oblivion, *as well* as three of Xemnas' unquestionably loyal original six.)

If you compare, it's probably obvious that Roxas could be implimented as a weapon easier than Namine'. Roxas also isn't stupid, and if allowed away from Xemnas' barely-there control over him, and with suspicion on Marly, it would be *easy* for Marly to turn Roxas against the Organization by bringing to light that they're *keeping* things from him. The memory manipulation is such a strange ability that there's really a lot of uncertainty of what it could actually accomplish in terms of battles. They don't have anyone they need to directly manipulate memory-wise anyway.

There's... also a factor about Namine' that I've given some thoughts in terms of this. She's the 'Nobody' of a Princess of Heart. This alone makes her an anomoly. Her ability, while not the first to control the unseen, is still very different from what the Organization is used to. She's unpredictable, and if allowed to function inside the Organization as a member, could *easily* bite them in the ass later somehow. Xemnas MAY have been thinking of this when he Oh-so-generously handed her over to Marluxia. Let *him* have this unpredictable member and get *his* behind bitten.

But... that's just how *I* like to think about it. ♥ I hope this isn't too much of a novel. (Or an unwelcome butt-in. XD)
