(no subject)

Placard on the computers at the campus library:

"This computer is for Academic and Research purposes only.

The following are Prohibited:
Chatting* Gaming
Dating Sites* Singles Sites*
Instant Messaging*
"Objectionable" material*

*Unless Required for your class"

...

What I want to know is, what classes does this college offer that would require the use of dating sites or IM?

Now, IM I can get -- we use it at work, even, to send links or ask questions for clarification. (Or, in the case of some coworkers, to say HEY LOOK AT THIS NEAT FLASH VIDEO.)

Dating and Singles sites, though, I've nooooo idea. XD

Well, I had to find a hotel booking page in german and fill it out for my teacher in my german class, but the dating site is going a bit too far. I don't have the vocabulary to date anyone in german, sorry.

I'm a computer lab monitor at our public library on Thursday mornings, and while I don't stare at what people are doing, there's weird stuff going on sometimes.

I just want to know why their filter (which applies itself even if you bring your own laptop to use their connection. wtf.) block Gaia but LiveJournal is allowed.

I dunno about your college, but I'm taking Human Sexuality at the UW... that could concievably require looking up dating sites.
