The other day,

khfanficrants demonstrated, in a nutshell, every reason why I love it.

As those who don't already know might guess, it's a comm to rant about KH fandom stuff. Specifically, it's a

fanficrants spinoff created when the KH rants started overtaking the comm, so we could take our toys and go play somewhere where we weren't stomping all over the other fandoms and getting in their space. XD

Now, with beginnings like that, you might expect we'd be exceptionally wanky. We're not. For a rant comm, we're actually very nice. ~~Our maintainer is a friendly hippie chick. Coincidence?~~

Case in point! The other day, a rant was posted that... didn't seem to have a point, and was largely just about what pairings the poster didn't like, and why, put forth in a non-constructive way.

FFR member 2: *insulting macro*
FFR members 3-7: *jokes about the oncoming wank*

I love KHfanficrants. ;D I've only seen one wank, and though it was a whopper, one isn't that bad.

I think I know which one you're talking about. :O Yeah, considering the potentially touchy subjects that get ranted on all the time, plus a known troll entering the fold? We're doing pretty damn well.

Wasn't that wonderful? Even the hostile people weren't horribly hostile, just grumpy. ♥

It was! And she got it! Everyone responded very calmly telling her where she'd gone wrong, and she got it and apologized and learned from it!

I believe in rational discourse and its problem-solving effectiveness on an almost religious level, so seeing it in action even on such a small scale makes me very, very happy.

Seriously! Gah, I wish there was more politeness and less resorts to flaming, it would help avoid so much utter stupidity. :)

Why do people think it's a good idea to mention what you HATE in INTRO. posts? Seriously? I see that at other comms. too. "Hi, my name is ______. I'm __ years old and I hate __________ SO MUCH. UGH." Wonderful. Now I will associate you as the jackass that hates whatever it is you hate, which is probably something I like :P

It's just been a bad time for Kairi/Riku or something. That was the second time that week. wtf? I know we usually set off chain reactions in posts, or someone will say something that triggers something else, but damn. I'm just glad everyone settled that like respectable and intelligent members.

I don't know. I can see missing the point at a rant comm - we're all bitching about irritating fandom trends there, after all - but at other comms? That's confusing. O_o

My RiKai shippy side is sad. On the other hand, it is feeding the "must make RiKai fanstuffs" fire, so that's good. And yes, the respectful and intelligent settling was awesome. :D

Maybe it's just me, but I'd make sure to see how said rant comm works before opening my mouth on subjects like that XD. Even there there's a certain...standard we've set and King Mickey help you if you go over it.
People do it all the time; the Disney Princess comm. is coming it mind. "My name is Ashley and my favorite princess is Belle! She's so awesome! I HATE Snow White, though. She's annoying and she sucks :P Hope to see you guys around! <3" Wow, I'm impressed....not.

Hasn't khfanficrants only gone onto fandom_wank twice or something? Because that's a pretty good record for a comm. Meanwhile, fanficrants is quite good at visiting fandom_wank.

Yeah. There was that one "but what are your thoughts on yaoi?" bit that got wanked, but other than that and a tussle that sprung up because of a valid but incautiously-presented point (which resolved tidily for the ones who mattered anyway), we've been surprisingly good. Even with the potential wankbait that's been showing up lately.

Waitwaitwait. Civil discourse? On a fandom community?

Wow. Your description of fanficrants is so, so true. That happens nearly ever 3-5 posts there. It scares me .___. ~~nearly~~ everyone's so meeeaaan~!

I was doing it from memory, even; ever since I wandered over to khfanficrants, I've felt no real need to go back to FFR. XD
