I am gritting my teeth very hard at LJ and hoping that decency and common sense will win the day.
In the meantime, a meme.

When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.
To begin with, a fragment from the Pooh-and-Leon fic:
- There weren't many people, Sora had thought with amusement, who had to take a vacation to read a book.
It wasn't entirely fair, because of course Pooh's book was special, but the thought still made Sora grin as he'd laid the book flat on the lectern, trailed his fingers over the beautifully-illustrated map, and gone inside.
And a bit from World Without You, ooooh sekrit:
- Cid was going to start swearing any minute.
They'd broken him of it years ago - or Aerith had, anyway, even as a young girl she'd been indomitable - but he was about to unbreak. Or was at least seriously considering it. Yuffie could see it on his face.
The air had gone all tight between those three, Cid and Leon's eyes locked in what seemed to have become a staring contest, while Aerith stood between and just beside them, watching them both and almost certainly counting down in her head to the explosion. Yuffie had perched herself on the accessory shop's roof, and was really just as glad to be there instead of in that silent maelstrom. It was hard enough trying to center herself as it was, anticipation and anxiety knotting themselves up together in her chest until she felt fit to burst.
This... is actually from something I promised

- "There's a cat in the kitchen."
Tifa ducked her head quickly over the glass she was drying, biting her cheeks to stifle a laugh. Cloud's voice was flat and heavy, as though the little ginger kitten asleep on the floor was a dire matter requiring immediate action.
"It was a stray," she said, putting the glass away before turning to face Cloud across the bar, grinning a little bit at the bemusement in his eyes. "Denzel found it meowing at the door a couple days ago, a little after you left. I'm sorry, I meant to call and tell you."
From that Donaldfic I've been muttering about:
- Springtime in the mountains, under any other circumstances, would have had Donald Duck in the highest of spirits. The snow was all but melted, life splashing through the white in a hundred colors. The storms of early March left the air clean and crisp, and looking down the mountain one could see for miles. Donald would have enjoyed it profoundly.
If he'd been alone.
I was toying with some backstory sidefic for my old fic Blood of the Planet, on how Cloud came to live in Cosmo Canyon:
- That day is etched on his memory, the joint assault on his senses too intense to ever forget: the woman's blood spilling out and the coppery stench of it, half-drowned by the intense aromas of the herbs and spices with which she filled her hut; her ruthlessly stifled groans and wails of pain as she barked commands through the exertion, leaving Cloud with the impression she'd have midwifed herself if she could have and was in fact very annoyed that she could not; her husband, frail and wan, holding himself up and clinging to her hands, shaking fingers intertwined with hers. Cloud's hands were barely steadier, his mind numbing with panic as he blindly followed the mother-to-be's instructions, realizing that nothing he had ever done, nothing, was quite as terrifying as delivering a baby.
I was spluttering a while back over the mind-boggling similarities between RiKai and the story of Rapunzel:
- In hindsight, this was the way the people in fairy tales always got in trouble; you saw the wrong thing, you opened the wrong door and went into a garden that didn't belong to you, or the blood in the crypt-room stained your key, and then that was it, you were done for. You followed the smell of gingerbread and the witch ate you whole.
But sometimes, sometimes, you were the lucky one, the clever one, and that was really what he was banking on.
For Sora.
He couldn't fool himself any longer, he thought as he bound his eyes blind and stepped into the darkness, that he was any kind of prince.
There's also that Xemnas/Ansem crackfic:
- I had stood and turned to leave, and I was nearly to the door when he impacted against my back, clutching at me. I had barely heard him move. He remained pressed there, and his fingers scraped against my chest, as if searching.
When I told him I had no heart for him to take, he seemed confused. He did not entirely leave off his search, but rather illogically stopped clawing at me and instead smoothed his hand over my chest. I then commanded him to stop, and he did. This shows promise for his comprehension, at least.
Lexaeus has just informed me that my Heartless appears to be sulking. I am not sure why.
And finally, the Phoenix Wright/Kingdom Hearts crossover (no really, stop laughing):
- The hunched black thing that raised its head to stare at him with sulphurous, glowing eyes, twitching long kinked antennae, was considerably larger than a chipmunk. Little clawed hands grasped at the air to either side of it, and the thing looked - it looked comically ineffectual, the way it twitched and swayed and turned its round little head to face him, but it was a little difficult to pay much attention to looks when the thing took a step forward and raised an unaccountable animal terror in Miles's heart.
When twenty more antennaed, lamp-eyed heads rose from the grass behind it, as if melting out of the shadows, Miles turned and ran.

I'm a little worried about the places I've posted KH smut. :( I guess it's lucky I've always been so prudish about actually writing/drawing smut...

It doesn't look like they're after fic, but fanart and fanfic aren't too different. I really don't want to have to move to GJ because there are tons of awesome people here, but dammit, I will drive to SF and find their headquarters if I have to.

Yeah - I'm pretty well entrenched, and I know if there's an exodus we won't all go to the same site, so... meh. I'm just really hoping someone points out to LJ, "HEY. WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS STUPID AND UNFAIR. PLEASE TO GROW UP."
... and that they actually listen.
