Because it's late and I have no more work and memes are fun, one I shamelessly stole from
weyrdchic:
Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities.
1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

(Who is getting his own game, by the way, even though no one knows if it's getting international release.)

1. I love Edgeworth to bits and pieces. He's so badass in court and so adorably socially awkward outside of it, and he tries so hard, and he's a great example of redemption Done Right.
2. Well, considering that he's the reason Phoenix became a lawyer to begin with... yes.
3. Honestly, it almost scares me how much he grips me emotionally, and how much I can relate to him. I feel really protective of him and really admire him, at the same time.
4. Adore it.
5. Yes. On all counts. XD I ship him hard with Phoenix, and I am very interested in his other relationships - his sibling relationship with Franziska, his friendship with Maya, his grudging friendship/working relationship with Gumshoe...
6. Well, he's a little sexist (mostly in the Japanese, though) and sometimes I really want to smack him for the state of Gumshoe's salary. If I was going to change anything, I'd start there.
7. If I was in the fandom with him I'd probably think he was a rat bastard, because... well... he was. And it's mostly his circle of friends and close associates who get to see the real Edgeworth and all his endearing and redeeming qualities. If I knew him in real life... You know, I dunno. I think it'd depend on how close our careers brought us to each other. ... Unless I met him in a fandom, like, both geeking out on a forum about our favorite show or whatever. In that case, we'd probably be good friends and stay up to obscene hours (because I'm nocturnal and the man doesn't sleep) discussing themes and being nerds.
8. One of my all time favorites, for sure.
9. I might. I think I have, actually. XD
10. Oh god yes.

2. Being the main character of the game, uh... XD
3. He grips me hard. I can relate to him to an extent, but the sheer enormity of his tragedy makes him a little less accessible than, say, Edgeworth (whose problems are also horrific but more within the realm of reality).
4. I've been growing away from it, which makes me sad, but it was My First and I'll always love it for what it was to me. Thinking about a replay, actually...
5. I ship him with Tifa, definitely, and can't imagine why I ever didn't. I used to ship him with Zack, but I'm settling down into acceptance of their quite lovely canon pairings. XD Not that I wouldn't still love to see some happy, sexy OT4.
6. A lot of his portrayal in the new canon. His KH2 version made me actively hate him for some time, and I was unenthused about having to look so much between the lines in AC to see the Cloud I'd loved so much in the original. (Dirge was a balm unto my soul in this regard, though - oh my god he was only onscreen for like two minutes but dooooooooooooork)
7. I'd probably want to smack him upside the head, at least at first. If I was close enough to him to see the DORK!!1 shining through under the monotone grim facade, I'd probably be quite fond of him. I'd probably annoy him, though.
8. I'd say he's one of my favorites, yeah.
9. No, not really. He's the main character, you'll find out about him soon enough.
10. I think so.

Replay it! Maybe it'll get you in the mood to write for it again :D shameless begging for fic? Not at all!

"I'll make enough ruckus for everyone!" on the Highwind while doing squat thrusts? Advising Yuffie about motion sickness? The gun spin while he was in disguise? Bear wearing a marshmallow? Every single thing he said or did in the Beginner's Halls?
Cloud is a total dorkface and I love it.

... Why did I have more to say about him than about freaking Edgeworth, what the fuck. XD
2. Yeah, he's what gets it rolling - he becomes a little less important later on, but he's the catalyst. We wouldn't have a plot without Barret.
3. He doesn't GRIP me, but I do find his story compelling.
4. See above, since it's the same fandom. XD
5. Uh, secretly I ship him a little bit with Tifa. I would lovelovelove to see someone write Barret/Tifa and Cloud/Tifa simultaneously, with unspoken understandings and maybe not quite a full-blown relationship on either side so nobody knows quite how boldly or how carefully to tread, and feelings are hurt sometimes, badly in some cases, but ultimately they've all been through too much together and value too many of the same things and people too highly to really ever break apart.
6. It does bother me a little how he's very much a Japanese caricature of black people, and his RAAAGE!!1 is offputting, but eh.
7. Oh my god he'd probably scare the shit out of me XD I doubt he'd have much patience for me either.
8. Not one of my favorites, but I am very fond of him.
9. Nah.
10. Sadly, I doubt it.

2. Oh man. If you take Hojo out of the equation, the entire game falls on its side and dies. He's a crucial part of the backstory.
3. I can't really relate to him much myself. I think it's interesting, how far and how hard he drove himself trying to surpass Gast as a scientist, but I can't relate to it.
4. Also see above, since it's the same fandom. XD
5. I actually don't ship him at all. With Lucrecia a bit, in my happy delusional AU-land, but not in canon. Even though they were married.
6. Not a thing! He's such a perfect antagonist as he is.
7. I'd hate him and he'd give me the crawling creeps; he'd hate me and ignore me entirely.
8. Not my favorite, but my god is he a good bad guy.
9. I wouldn't hype or warn, no. Unless I knew the person I was talking to really had a thing for mad scientists/really hated mad scientists.
10. In certain areas of fandom, yeah.

On an unrelated note, I love that freaking icon.
2. Main character, so yes. XD
3. I have a pretty easy time writing him, and I'd like to be more like him; I think he represents what I'd really like to be, unfailingly generous and loving and effective in helping the people he loves.
4. I love it. It's a really fun fandom, and I owe a lot to it.
5. SoRiKai hardcore. My brain just stops if I try to pair him with anyone else, or even with only one of his friends. The three of them loves each other so much I can't stand not keeping them all together forever.
6. His attitude towards the Nobodies. It's really very uncomfortable how we're made to sympathize deeply with them, and Roxas especially, for six straight hours and then suddenly we're thrown into Sora's POV and everyone's hating on Nobodies and we're expected to sympathize with the exact opposite of what the game took great pains to make us feel. I wish there'd been a clearer dividing line between "they're Nobodies" and "they're evil", instead of "they're evil because they're Nobodies". Sora would have honestly felt more in-character to me if he were angry with the Nobodies because they were endangering worlds and hurting his friends (which they were and which is an excellent reason for Sora to be upset) than because they didn't exist.
I'd actually change a lot of little quirks in his character through KH2. His outlook in the Pridelands, most notably, but mostly just a lot of little things to make his character more consistent. Nojima sucks.
7. He's Sora. I'd adore him just as much, because he has that effect on people, and he'd probably like me pretty well too because you have to be a pretty big jerk for Sora not to like you.
8. Definitely a favorite.
9. I might hype a little. He's just so cute.
10. I'm pretty sure the majority of the fanbase loves him.

1. He's one of the best examples of character writing I've ever seen. I LOVE him. I love how he starts off as this really awful and creepy person, but then you get to gradually sympathize with him and start to see why he was so awful, and what kind of person he really is, and it just - oh, Fakir.
I named my laptop after him. That is how much I love him. XD
2. I'm starting to wonder why this question is even here, actually. Most good characters are important to the plot, that's why they're there... But yes, he's very important.
3. He's a character type I connect easily with, though I'm not sure how much I actually relate.
4. It's such a beautiful series. I love it so much, it's rare to see fiction this perfectly executed.
5. Ahiru Ahiru Ahiru Ahiruuuuu. I could see him a bit with Mytho in the first half, for lol twisted, but Fakir/Ahiru OTP.
6. I wouldn't change a blessed thing. All the things I don't like about him contribute to the character that I do like, a great deal. He wouldn't be as good of a character if anything about him was changed.
7. I'd probably think he was a bastard. A hot bastard, but a bastard. He's one of those where his better aspects are only really visible to those close to him, and I'd never get that close. He wouldn't have much patience for me.
8. Absolutely a favorite.
9. I'd warn and hype in the same breath, probably. "This guy starts out a TOTAL CREEPY JERKFACE, but believe me, you'll love him by the end."
10. He's gotta be a fan favorite.
