where does the time go
January 2010
"My new year's resolution is to post more in my journal!"
December 2010
"... Oops."
so uh yeah. MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME GO
I'll start off by saying this: All things considered, I'm in a much better place now than I was at this time last year.
It's not like this year hasn't had its downsides. We lost our dog this summer, around Fourth of July weekend - she had an illness that snuck up on us, and by the time we both realized that something was wrong and were able to get her to a vet, it was too late. Money has been tight - part of the reason why we couldn't help Buffy - and I spent yet another year unemployed. I have to retake my algebra class, and I once again did not get the professional internship I was shooting for.
BUT!
I've finally started getting the hang of this "social life" thing - my school has a Dagorhir club, it turns out, so I joined that and have had a group of nerds to hang out with every week, some of whom I've become pretty good friends with. FUNNILY ENOUGH, I haven't felt lonely at all this year! Gosh, it's like regular human interaction satisfies a psychological need, or something! Who'd have thought. XD
I-I have a girlfriend. ♥ Long-distance as yet, and I'm still a little afraid of jinxing this by talking about it too much, but kyaa kyaa girlfriend ♥
I am employed! By some strange accident of fate, a low-stress, decent-pay job as a nighttime home caregiver for an old lady who lives nearby just... fell into my lap. I am still kind of reeling, but far be it from me to look this particular gift horse in the mouth.
Those three things? Make up for a lot of suck.
So, here at the end of 2010, I'm pretty optimistic. :D Going forward from today, the world looks a little bit brighter.

Also I'm sorry to hear about your dog. :< We lost ours a few years ago, also around 4th of July, also to an illness that we didn't know about until it was too late. You have my deep sympathies.

I'm glad to hear that things have been looking up! Those three things sound like awesome ways to make up for the suck. :D
I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I know how much it hurts losing them. :

Yeah, the poor dog... I think I'm going to be a little haunted by that forever. D: Just because I feel like we should have seen it, you know? She was showing signs, we just didn't connect them to anything until too late...
