First day of classes!
Aug. 21st, 2006 07:22 pmWell, this biking-to-college thing seems workable, if a slight adventure. It takes me around half an hour to get from MCC to home, which is a damn sight better than the plodding half-hour walk to the bus stop, followed by twenty minutes on the bus and up to ten of plodding across campus. After being on the bike, walking seems unbearably slow.
It is more effort, though, and it's still the hot part of the year. I got home pretty weak. I'll have to start carrying water and possibly eating before I leave campus. Or stopping to eat on the way home. The bike shop is on the way, too, so I could try buying those little energy gel packets to keep my strength up. At least most of the time, I'll be biking at night so there won't be so much risk of heat stroke.
Also, I now have severely less use for my iPod. Poor Janus. I'll have to find excuses to use him, and perhaps get headphones that can coexist with my new helmet.
In other news, WE ARE HAVING THE BEST MONSOON STORM HERE EVER.
It started about ten minutes after I got home - there was an incredibly loud thundercrack, and not long after, a TORRENTIAL rain. Within minutes the streets were FLOODED. I went out and stood in it and got thoroughly soaked, and eventually coaxed Mom to come join me. We were sloshing through the flooded parts and giggling like schoolgirls, it was absolutely wonderful. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ We haven't had a storm like this in years. It was about time. ♥
It's still going, even. I keep hearing soft rumbles and I'm pretty sure it's still raining. So happy. :D
