So. I've been on the South Beach Diet for two weeks. I have already lost at least seven pounds on the really restrictive phase, and now I'm going into the more liberal long-term weight loss stage.

Yesterday, the kids dropped by after school. I haven't seen much of them for the past couple of weeks, so I decided to show off a bit. Getting Tia's attention, I stood up and said "Hey, Tia, do I maybe look a little thinner to you?"

She looked at me and her eyes went big. "Yeah!" she said, "you don't look like--" and here she held her hands out about six inches in front of her belly "--this anymore!"

She has no tact. None at all. XD

Strangely, that was the best compliment I've received since I started the diet.

Tia's six. XD Her brother Josh is nine. Normally I can't stand Tia and would sometimes like to disavow all relation with her, but that was adorable.

Yes indeed. Even I'm actually starting to notice the changes to my shape by now. :)

My dad's been trying that diet. I'm impressed with how long he has been holding out on it. My sister and my mother are carb-lovers, so they didn't last much more than a week.
