It's actually three alchemical symbols mashed together - "air" on the top, "wood" on the bottom (it's the sticky-uppy thing. go ahead and get all the dirty jokes out of your system, I'll wait), and the horizontal one is "element".
Recently I have been fascinated by alchemy, especially by all the pretty pretty symbols, and decided that if I were to get a tattoo, it would have to be an alchemic symbol. Or symbols. That was a potential design for myself - I'm an air sign by the Western zodiac, and a wood element by the Eastern.
I'm using it as an icon partly because I like it, and partly because I want to see if I get sick of it before I seriously consider inscribing it on my flesh. XD
(while we're here and talking about art, you clearly deserve an update. I've got the sketch and some linework done on your commission, but I'm having the damnedest time getting to it. I just can't seem to make myself focus. I will get to it, I just want you to know why I'm being so slow on it.)
