[Fic] Differing Tastes
... because
nekokoban and I seem to have this perpetual-motion inspiration ping-pong game going. XD
Title: Differing Tastes
Words: 354
Rating: G
Summary: Roxas and Sora disagree on some very important things.
Riku had learned, when he had finally been able to emerge from the darkness and come home, to count his blessings. The beach was always there, the waves familiar and soothing; he still had a home he could go to; Mickey was always just a bottled letter away; most of all, Sora and Kairi still trusted him and wanted him around, and that was where he usually stopped counting, because nothing could bring any greater warmth or relief than that.
He rapped his knuckles twice on Sora's back door, his personal knock, and then let himself and Kairi in. Just knowing he still had the welcome to do that made him feel overwhelmed with gratitude, and he had a broad smile on his face as he stepped inside Sora's family's kitchen.
It quickly faded into a look of utter bewilderment.
The fridge was hanging open, gushing out cool air into the room as Sora gulped down milk directly from the jug. He was making urgent little noises as he drank, as if he had been lost in the deserts of Agrabah and his life depended on this milk.
"Sora?" Kairi asked, Riku still standing mute where he had opened his mouth to say something and found no words.
Sora put down the jug and gasped for air, turning wounded blue eyes on his two best friends. "Roxas," he mewled plaintively, "is trying to kill me."
Before anyone could say anything, in the blink of an eye Sora's entire manner changed. He set the milk down on the counter, rolling his eyes and giving Riku and Kairi a thoroughly unimpressed deadpan stare.
"He's being a baby," Roxas's voice said. "It wasn't even that hot."
And suddenly he dived for the milk again, taking another long frantic drink. "You put pepper all over it, you traitor!" he wailed when he came up for air.
Taken aback, Riku looked down at Kairi questioningly. She gave a helpless little shrug.
Riku decided to add to his list of blessings that, while his best friend had apparently gone insane, at least things weren't going to be boring around here.

You're welcome! Was much fun to read.
I kinda figure most of the Nobodies would like strong-flavored food. Since they lack the capacity to feel certain things (or at least, feel them the way complete people do) they'd probably want to experience strong feelings everywhere they could, even if it's just strong food. Kinda like the ghosts in Harry Potter. But then, I'm also half convinced Saix is/was a werewolf, so you're welcome to take my theories with a grain of salt. ^^;

:D
Yeah, most probably. I was sort of thinking that too. :) It makes you wonder, then, if after returning to Sora, Roxas might find his taste for OMG STRONG FOOD fading. He's no longer technically a Nobody, and Sora is the original and doesn't like the spicy, so maybe over time he'd go from dumping cayenne on things to a grudging sort of "okay, I guess this would taste alright without pepper" acceptance. (And perhaps meanwhile, Sora might find that his tolerance for spicy has increased. XD)

and sexand such. XD But I'm starting to get that I'm in the minority on this. XDAnyway, it's a great image, when Roxas takes over and sets down the milk carton. ♥ And you already know how I feel about Roxas liking spicy food, hee. ♥♥
It's adorable. You're awesome. XD

Reading these 'shares a body' fics next to these 'SoKai' fics leaves one with strange (pervy) thoughts... Such as "I wonder if Roxas ever takes over out of curiousity?" Or "I wonder if Roxas even likes Kairi?" I just don't see Namine having an outgoing enough personality to be so assertive... or maybe she and Kairi combined too well for her sense of self to exist... *confusing herself*

... That said, Roxas taking over in an intimate situation would be a really, really interesting fic to read. I kind of want someone with more talent than me to write that, now. o.o

In one fic, Sora and Kairi would just zone out, and not be aware of anything that happened when the others were in control. All we really ever saw in that fic was Namine popping up and coming onto Riku and Sora... and, while interesting, Roxas never interacted with Kairi. (he wasn't into Riku 'that way'.) In another fic... Roxas didn't appear until he and Sora got into a big argument, brought on by some trauma... and he took over by force when Riku upset him. But in that case, he asked Kairi to bring Namine forward. Then Kairi and Sora weren't aware of anything.
I didn't want to say it straight out, being totally pervy, but yes... I would really like to see someone write this scenario with 'others and intimacy'. (although I think you have more than enough talent. <3) I've been looking for some Roxas/Kairi interaction (any interaction...there's none out there! You'd think he'd at least get to know her under the circumstances. ) and then this idea came about. It would be *really* interesting to see that sort of interaction with Roxas.
