FF7 musings
Jun. 6th, 2005 04:27 amI'm replaying FF7 for the bajillionth time - this was partly to generally indulge the flood of FF7 love I've been feeling from Advent Children and Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus, and partly to finally get the Tifa date, which is the only one I haven't seen yet.
Some observations and thoughts:
- Tifa's Limit Breaks kind of kick ass.
- When you replay the game knowing what happened, and you pay attention to Tifa's dialogue... you realize the poor girl is almost as confused as Cloud. It's no wonder she never managed to confront him about it... next time I see someone going "OMG Tifa why didn't u tell him u h0r!", I will apply the Logic Stick. I'd like to see anyone who criticizes that girl do any better in her position.
- Even if I've gotten incredibly blasé about most of the emotional scenes in FF7, the scene in Cosmo Canyon with Nanaki seeing Seto still gives me goosebumps.
- Say what you will about old-school FFs and how they were so much better. In a lot of ways, sure, they were awesome. But for all its flaws, I feel like FF7 got a whole damn lot of things exactly right. And I like the story better than FF6's, I think. (Jason, did you just disown me? XD)
- There is NOTHING creepier than Nibelheim, okay? NOTHING.
